A good dose of people skills

Jill works as a move coordinator for the moving division in Antwerp. “I am responsible for the practical side of the moves for diplomats. This means being in very close contact with them at a time when they are under a lot of pressure. After all, moves always involve a certain degree of stress. I try to reassure them as much as I can. A healthy dose of people skills is definitely a bonus in this job!”

“There’s no such thing as a typical work day for a move coordinator,” Jill laughs. “Every day, new situations crop up that demand a solution. From car registration papers that the customer has lost, to reserving warehouse space, to temporarily storing someone’s personal belongings. It’s not a 9-to-5 job. If the phone rings at 5:00 in the afternoon, I am just as happy to answer it as at any other time of day. I can’t imagine leaving my customers in the lurch.”

Green blood

“Gosselin has grown a lot in the last few years and has become much more international. I am very proud to work here, and am not afraid to admit that after eight years, I now have ‘green blood’. What I really like are the flexible working hours, and that you can set your own schedule. And last but not least, there’s a great team spirit here. This makes the work fun, even when it’s really busy. Sometimes, I go have coffee with my co-workers in the afternoon. I also see some of them outside of work.”

The woman behind the co-worker

Jill is 29, and travelling is her hobby. “I love seeing a lot of the world. When I schedule my vacations from work, it’s to go somewhere. I don’t have a favorite destination. I am equally happy to go to Thailand, Tenerife or back to Montreal, where I studied for a year after graduating from high school. I also love to play tennis, and to treat myself to a really good meal.”
