Gosselin Logistics’ warehouse in Deurne now fumigation-proof

Valuable collaboration between Gosselin Logistics and Descroes

Antwerp fumigation company Descroes worked with Gosselin Logistics to complete a new set-up in Deurne. This new set-up allows a 2,200 m2 warehouse to be fully heated, and fumigation services for both soft commodities and project-based cargo to be applied.

One of the warehouses at Gosselin Logistics’ terminal on the Belcrownlaan has been made fully “fumigation-proof”. In mid-January, this warehouse became operational for the storage and standard gas treatment of traditional and soft commodities.

Thanks to the new set-up, even non-conventional materials such as open top and flat rack containers, bulldozers, cars and vans can be treated to prevent infestation by the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB). “Almost every type of cargo destined for export to New Zealand and Australia requires treatment using gas,” says Descroes owner Maxim Van Hoorebeeck.

Extreme cold

“Using a warehouse is the only way to ensure the efficient treatment of both soft commodities and high and heavy cargo during the winter. The active ingredient in the gas, fluor, doesn’t react well to extreme cold. You can create maximum efficiency the moment you start to apply heat. Gosselin can now guarantee this. The option of working outside of the port area can provide customers with more flexibility,” he continues.
Descroes is also active in biotreatment, and in early December 2020, the company opened six new gas-free fumigation chambers at Gosselin Oosterweel, the Gosselin Group’s Oosterweel site.
