New mobile port crane for Gosselin Logistics

Gosselin Logistics highlights its ambitions with the investment in an additional crane for its terminal on the Albert Canal. On Monday, May 3, the crane will be delivered by inland waterway to the terminal as a kit, and the assembly can begin.

“The widening of the Albert Canal and the expansion of our quay wall have had a positive impact on our activities. Gosselin continues to invest in sustainable and environmentally responsible logistics via inland waterways,” says Marc Smet, CEO of Gosselin Group. “We want to apply inland navigation and multimodal solutions as often as possible to ease the pressure on local and other roads and to offer certainty to our clients. After all, the number of containers being processed continues to rise.”

The new mobile crane has a 51-meter radius and will be deployed primarily for containers and breakbulk cargo. The Konecranes Gottwald Model 5 has a maximum load capacity of 125 tons for heavy lifting jobs and is the perfect supplement for our existing crane.

“Decisions on installations like this are naturally always made in consultation with the local authorities,” Marc Smet says in conclusion. “We’re really happy that we were able to take this important step towards sustainable transport.”

Starting on Monday, May 3, you can follow the assembly of the crane on the other side of the Albert Canal (Schoten side).
